Accurate communication is the key to success in business, tourism and personal correspondence. With machine translation becoming commonplace, the natural flow of human translation sets you and your company apart from the competition.

I offer an accurate, idiomatic and prompt translation service from Italian and French into English.

I specialise in a number of specific fields, as below –

  • Mountaineering and Climbing Terminology
  • Ski Touring, Off-Piste and Backcountry Skiing
  • Outdoor Pursuits and Extreme Sports
  • Adventure Travel
  • Tourism and Leisure
  • Climbing Hardware and Rigging Equipment
  • Equestrian Sports

– and in a range of more general fields –

  • Business Correspondence
  • Brochures
  • Advertisement Material

However as all translation work is different, I am happy to discuss a project in another field on request.

Having studied Modern Languages at the University of Durham, I went on to work and travel extensively around Italy, France, Austria and Spain before returning to the UK to work full-time as a translator. Since then I have worked extensively with Italian-based publishing houses and manufacturers, helping them to bridge into the English-speaking market.

My language specialisms have naturally grown around my passions, and the hours spent on (and off!) the piste, at crags, on mountains and even on the back of a horse fuelled my enthusiasm to combine the two.

In January 2014 I successfully obtained the CIOL Diploma in Translation General and Technology Papers with Merit, and am due to sit the Science exam in January 2015.  For more information please see the Credentials page.
